David Thoreau is a Senior Media Relations Counsel to Allen & Caron. In the assignments he performs for A&C and its clients, he brings more than 30 years experience writing about and working with people in nearly every aspect of the modern media. As a screenwriter, magazine editor, television writer/producer and novelist his broad range of communications experience gives him a unique background and perspective for public and media relations.

After working as a campaign advance man and press liaison in the mid-1970s, Thoreau launched his writing career in San Francisco with the 1979 publication of his first novel, "City At Bay." Upon the publication of his second and third novels, he moved to Southern California where he helped set up the Los Angeles Olympic Games in-house video operation in 1984.

Thoreau went to work for Michael Landon Productions in 1985 and continued working for Mr. Landon until 1990. He won the First Lady's Excellence in Television Award for his Highway to Heaven script "Parent's Day" in 1986. His television writing credits include such shows as Miami Vice, Quantum Leap, Murder She Wrote, The Sentinel and Walker Texas Ranger as well as pilots for CBS television and Alliance Entertainment. Thoreau' s feature movie writing credits include "Side Out" and "Sweet Evil."

For eight years Thoreau served as the west coast editor of The Yacht magazine where he did both reportorial and feature stories. He also has contributed to various in-flight magazines and recently wrote an article on the financial growth and investment potential of Canada for Asia Week magazine.

Thoreau received his bachelor's degree in English from UCLA and taught creative writing at UC Irvine Extension.
