Media Relations. Fast-growing mid-sized employee-owned 28-year-old Investor Relations firm seeks an aggressive media relations practitioner. We specialize in clients with businesses built around strong intellectual property, and most of our clients are small-cap. We need smart, fast-learning people who can pitch stories creatively, steadily, and effectively, and who can follow them through and make sure things happen correctly. We do not need grizzled war-weary veterans for this job -- we can help you learn to some extent -- but we do not need people who "always wanted to be in PR" either. You will be working at your computer and on the telephone most of the day. We will provide the materials you need to find the right people -- but please understand that this job is all about successfully pitching stories to the media. A journalism background helps, and if you cannot write well and quickly, don't bother applying. Compensation commensurate with experience and perceived ability. Can be officed in New York City or Irvine, California. No travel except in unusual circumstances.
