He most recently ran his own consultancy Barrior Services Consultant, working with major corporations and other entities to facilitate financial and marketing conferences, special events and exhibitions in New York, Nevada, and California. He spent his last two years in the department manning the detective's central crisis center. He received numerous accolades through out his years on the police force. Those honors included meritorious police awards, command recognitions and community citations. He is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
A Bronx native, Barrio attended the New York Institute of Technology, where he studied engineering, but prior to graduation he transferred to the Police Academy, where he graduated in 1987.
